Location: YDL-Superior (Meeting Room)Veteran musicians on the Detroit jazz scene perform jazz standards, swing tunes, funky boogaloo, and New Orleans traditional jazz.
The RJ Spangler Quintet features James O'Donnell on trumpet and vocals. Percussionist RJ and his pal James go back to the late 1970's performing jazz on Detroit's east side. RJ met drummer Bob Sweet around the same time while they were both members of master drummer Roy Brooks Aboriginal Drum Choir. The bassist Kurt Krahnke and guitarist Oliver Nevels joined up with the guys in the mid 80s.
