Welcome to The Ring of Fire: Blue Carbon Exhibition and Artist Talk_Margot McMahon story at Chicago Cultural Center RC on January 22, 2026 at 12:00 PM (Central Time).
Margot McMahon's The Ring of Fire, artwork inspired by the Coral Triangle, located in the Western Pacific Ocean, shows why Blue Carbon matters. Coral reefs, kelp, and mangrove forests are ancient ecosystems with a changing diversity of phantasmagoric beauty and a crucial building blocks of our planet. They store Blue Carbon, or carbon stored in marine ecosystems, for centuries to millennia. Margot will tell you how she discovered the struggle of marine ecosystems, saw them recover, and learned warm-water coral reefs passed their tipping point for survival.
