About this Event
Join the Center for Independent Living (CIL) and Mitsubishi Electric America Foundation (MEFA) for a special hybrid event screening of The Ride Ahead, an Emmy nominated documentary exploring disability, identity, independence, and adulthood.
The film follows Samuel Habib, a young adult with a disability, as he navigates questions about the future, relationships, community, and what it means to live independently. Through conversations with disability advocates and leaders across the country, The Ride Ahead offers an honest and powerful perspective on disability culture, access, and belonging.
Co-Directors Samuel Habib and Dan Habib will be attending the event. Following the screening, both in-person and virtual attendees will have the opportunity to engage in a youth-led panel discussion and community conversation. Samuel will be on the panel, which will focus on employment issues and be facilitated by Jim LeBrecht, an Executive Producer of The Ride Ahead and one of the filmmakers behind the acclaimed documentary Crip Camp.
The Ride Ahead aired nationally as part of POV on PBS, the acclaimed documentary series showcasing powerful independent stories and diverse perspectives.
