About this Event
In 1997, filmmaker Becky Edmunds discovered a collection of journals discarded in a pile of rubbish. Written by a man named Dick Perceval, the journals span the years 1925–1976, vividly recounting his student days in 1920s Berlin, his work in 1930s London as a journalist and frustrated author, and the extraordinary events that led him to Bletchley Park during World War Two. They chronicle the upheavals of his first marriage and hint at dark secrets, touching on themes of love, loss, war, family, loneliness, ambition, and disappointment. Becky will share the story of finding these diaries, researching their contents, connecting with Perceval's friends and family, and creating a web series inspired by the journals.
