➤ A sacred, supportive monthly circle for healing connection, and joyful conversation.
About this Event

Join us every month for a Red Tent circle: a sacred, supportive space for female-identifying people to gather, rest, and share stories. Each Red Tent circle will be guided by a different practitioner who is committed to sharing wisdom, facilitating healing, and listening deeply.

Inspired by the Anita Diamant book of the same name, the Red Tent at Shakti aims to create a container where female-identifying people feel supported and empowered to care for themselves and for each other. Opportunities to learn and to deepen spiritual practices that honor the Divine Feminine and recognize the interconnection among all living beings will be the focus.

After each Red Tent, you are invited to stay for a community potluck, extending our connection and time together. There is a kitchen on site if the food you bring requires refrigeration or reheating.

Since the Red Tent is a sacred space, we ask that you arrive early and give yourself time to park and to acclimate to the space. Once the ritual has started, we do not want any interruptions. Please be considerate of your sisters and arrive on time.

If you have been looking for sacred space, healing connection, and joyful conversation, then please attend the Red Tent at Shakti.

April 22 Red Tent:

Spring isn’t always easy — sometimes it feels more like uncertainty than renewal. This month, Janna Browning joins our Red Tent circle to explore spring as a liminal space: the tender in-between of what has passed and what hasn’t yet taken shape. Through gentle embodiment, guided imagination, and earth-based ritual, we’ll learn to trust our own timing and tend what is quietly stirring. Come as you are. Something in you is already growing.

May 27 Red Tent:

Sometimes life can feel as though it is moving forward so quickly that pieces of us are left scattered in yesterday. In the constant rhythm of growth and responsibility, the natural ebb and flow of life can become fleeting, leaving little space for reflection, mindfulness, and resolution within our own journey. When life moves at this pace, it can be difficult to stand with certainty inside our day-to-day experiences. We may find ourselves carrying fragments of unfinished thoughts, unresolved feelings, or versions of ourselves we left behind along the way.

On May 27th, Chandra Ellerson will join our Red Tent circle in a modern synthesis of the ancient healing practice of at-one-ment. This Red Tent Ceremony invites participants into a sacred pause through the practice of atonement, understood here as the gentle returning of the self to wholeness. Drawing inspiration from ancient traditions of purification, reconciliation, and communal healing found across cultures, this gathering will create a ritual space where the scattered pieces of the self are welcomed home. Through guided reflection, elemental ritual, and shared presence within the circle, participants will be supported in acknowledging their wholeness, offering themselves forgiveness, and embracing the grace of being a reflection of the Divine Feminine.

June 24 Red Tent:

On International Fairy Day, June 24th, we gather between worlds, between the seen and unseen, remembering the magic that lives in our bodies and in the land.

Step with us into a faerie ring as we slow down, breathe, and reconnect with the ancient thread between women, intuition, and the unseen realms. In a world that often forgets enchantment, this month's Red Tent is a place to remember. Cindy Howard will guide us in sharing presence, a little whimsy, and a touch of forest magic as we honor the intelligence within and around us.

May we walk gently with the unseen world. May we remember the magic in our bodies and the wisdom in the land.

Faerie attire is welcome, but not necessary. Flower crowns will be provided.

✨ Meet Janna Browning

Janna Browning, MA, PRDT is a seasoned trauma-informed drama therapist, expressive arts practitioner, director, and Co-Founder of Integrative StoryWorks (ISW). She facilitates individual and group embodiment and expressive arts work at Shakti in the Mountains.

She received her BFA in Acting from Emerson College in Boston and her MA in Counseling Psychology with an emphasis in Drama Therapy from the California Institute of Integral Studies in San Francisco.

In California, she worked with Armand Volkas in Healing the Wounds of History, which uses expressive arts therapy to bring together groups who share a legacy of historical trauma. Her work with HWH includes projects uniting Armenians and Turks to address the shared legacy of the Armenian Genocide, as well as facilitating dialogue around historical trauma in Palestine/Israel, Northern Ireland, and racial trauma in the United States.

Janna has also worked with Community Performance International, specializing in community building across lines of difference through large-scale theatre performance. She helped develop Community Story Performances in towns across the South and co-founded the StoryTown Program in Jonesborough, TN in 2011.

As a grief practitioner, Janna brings her trauma-informed drama therapy training into community grief-tending—facilitating rituals, keening circles, and embodied expressive arts processes to support individuals and communities in honoring loss and making space for renewal. Her grief work draws from expressive arts, trauma-informed practice, and ancestral Celtic traditions.

She is co-founder of Integrative StoryWorks, a company that uses personal stories to support individual and collective healing, and StoryWander Travel, which offers story-based small group travel experiences. Website: www.jannabrowning.com

✨ Meet Chandra Ellerson

Chandra Ellerson, MLS (AMT), is a Medical Laboratory Scientist and intuitive healing artist who bridges scientific understanding with ancient natural healing practices. For over a decade, she has studied and applied multicultural shamanic techniques, using a “healer heal thyself” approach to self-sustain her ADHD and support her recovery from PCOS through self-guided, nature-based methods. Her work incorporates crystals, sound, herbs, symbols, and sensory stimulation—grounded in both the physics of energy transfer and global traditions that have supported human healing across time.

As the creator of Chandra’s Earth Inspirational Jewelry, Chandra channels the energetic properties of earth elements into wearable tools for alignment and empowerment. Her healing philosophy is rooted in the Divine Feminine and the transformative qualities of water, reflecting her belief that all human energy flows from the Mother and returns to her. Through her workshops and jewelry, Chandra offers spaces for renewal, clarity, and reconnection to one’s own inner wisdom.
