The REC NY: Memorial Day Hike

This time we're heading to North Jersey for one of the most surprisingly spectacular hikes in the region! Join us for a chance to slow down, breathe, and escape the hustle and bustle of the city.

The Ramapo Valley County Reservation has it all: a beautiful lake, a waterfall, sweeping views of the NYC skyline, and believe it or not a wild cactus grove growing right here in the northeast.

We'll cover roughly 7 miles on a loop trail at a moderate pace, with plenty of stops to take it all in. Every step is led by NYSDEC licensed guide Kestrel Ambrose.

All Leave No Trace principles must be strictly abided by. The REC NY will not tolerate any sort of discrimination, bullying, or harassment. By joining any REC event you are solely responsible for your own safety in transit to, during, and after any event. You assume all the risks associated with the event.

Hiking involves certain inherent risks; hikers participating do so at their own risk. When attending The REC NY hiking trips, you should be both physically and mentally prepared and equipped with the appropriate gear. The hike leader is not responsible for your safety, you are. The hike leader has the authority to turn away anyone who is not adequately prepared. Please be aware that return times are estimates and can vary based on the fitness level of the group.

Hikers should be able to do at least 30 minutes of moderate to intense exercise without becoming short of breath. Please consult a qualified healthcare provider with any questions in regard to physical injuries or medical conditions that may limit your ability to complete this activity.

IMPORTANT NOTE: All sales are final. No refunds, exchanges or exceptions. Hike happens rain or shine. For the safety of participants, hike location may change depending on trail conditions or other variables at hike leaders discretion. Any such change will be communicated via email.
