About this Event
Join The Reading Club this February as we gather for a thoughtful and intimate discussion of If Beale Street Could Talk by James Baldwin*.
In honour of Black History Month and the spirit of Valentine’s season, we’re exploring a love story that is as tender as it is politically powerful. Baldwin’s lyrical yet piercing prose invites us into the lives of Tish and Fonny, examining Black love, family, injustice, and resilience in 1970s Harlem.
We’ll meet on February 21 at Library Bar for an afternoon of meaningful conversation, connection, and community. Expect layered discussion, thoughtful reflections, and a safe space to unpack themes of love as resistance, systemic injustice, and the strength of Black families.
Whether you’ve read every page or are still finishing up, come ready to engage, listen, and share.
Let’s celebrate Black storytelling together. 🖤📚
