About this Event
Join us for the first edition of The Reader’s Supper Club, a new series where books and food come together around one table.
This is something we’ve been wanting to start for a while: a space where a book doesn’t end on the last page but continues through conversation, food, and perspectives.
For this first gathering, we’re reading Interpreter of Maladies by Jhumpa Lahiri.
The stories move between India and the West and follow people who are trying to understand where they belong. Food shows up in a subtle, personal and quiet way through Lahiri's writing.
Inspired by this, there will be chai for sure, along with some Bengali-inspired snacks that reflect the world of the book. Our vision is to keep things simple and comforting, so the food sits naturally alongside the conversation.
Alongside the food, the conversation will find its own rhythm and will look different to a formal book-club discussion. We’ll have a few gentle thought prompts to get things started and from there, it can go anywhere. You might share something that stayed with you, something that didn’t quite sit right or even follow a thread that someone else begins!
This first edition is where it all begins and we’re curious to see what it grows into with the people who join us. Only 6 seats at the table, so do grab yours early.
