About this Event
New York City and Hudson Valley–based jazz vocalist Jaana Narsipur releases her innovative new album The Re-Collection, a jazz reimagining of 80s pop classics from Kate Bush, The Eurythmics, Joe Jackson, and other iconic artists. The album features a powerhouse ensemble of New York musicians — including pianist and music director Nicki Adams, plus two Grammy-nominated artists, trumpeter Wayne Tucker and violinist Meg Okura.
The Re-Collection album release show promises to be a joyful ride through your favorite 80s New Wave playlists! Highlights include the infectious pop-funk of “Breakout,” the warm elegance of Basia’s “Time and Tide,” and a simmering take on “Holding Back the Years,” showcasing Wayne Tucker’s expressive trumpet solos.
A versatile performer, Jaana moves fluidly from jazz standards to soul to modern pop interpretations. She’s a frequent presence on the NYC and Hudson Valley jazz scenes, performing at The Flatiron Room, Winnie’s Jazz Bar, Pangea, Jazz on Main, The Bean Runner Café, and more. Jaana’s 2022 debut album, Better Than Anything, paid tribute to bebop and hard-bop legends Horace Silver and Bob Dorough, establishing her as a dynamic arranger and interpreter of jazz repertoire.
