The Quality of Mercy — Act I workshop

A debt-laden lover concocts a desperate plan; a cocky merchant rashly takes a loan; a cruel joke gets turned about again and again until death threatens to follow on death. What happens when you've lived so long under oppression that you can only imagine its inversion, not its abolition?

Join us at the National Opera Center or online this May for a workshop reading of the first act of a new opera, The Quality of Mercy, a queer, Jewish reworking of The Merchant of Venice.

Tickets are free, but donations are gratefully accepted to support continued development. In-person doors will open around 7:00pm; the livestream link will be e-mailed out approximately two hours before the beginning of the show.
