About this Event
In celebration of Analog Outlaw’s summer 2026 underground media fair—taking place Saturday June 27th at 2220 Arts + Archives—7th House is proud to welcome Analog Outlaw and Enlighted Artists for a very special co-presentation: the world theatrical premiere of AGFA’s revelatory restoration of perhaps the definitive distillation of the 1970s California New Age movement, THE PYRAMID (1976).
Written and directed by legendary stuntman Gary Kent—the real-life inspiration for Brad Pitt’s Cliff Booth in Quentin Tarantino’s ONCE UPON A TIME IN HOLLYWOOD—THE PYRAMID synthesizes Kent’s real-life far-out discursions into what amounts to a sort of “New Age MEDIUM COOL”: an earnest and utterly singular fusion of psychodrama, spirit-seeking documentary, and mystical road movie.
Chris is a TV news cameraman spiritually exhausted by the car crashes, police shootouts, and endless human catastrophe he captures daily with his camera. The film tracks the divergent paths that he and his beloved news anchor friend, “LA Ray”, follow to cope with their trauma and burnout. As Ray tragically spirals into depression and dysfunction, Chris takes to the streets in search of stories that reflect a more enlightened way of living, as he drifts through a kaleidoscopic landscape of encounter groups, psychics, scientists, astronauts, crystal healers, fire-walkers, Kirlian photographers, paranormal investigators, pyramid power devotees, and seekers of every stripe.
Somewhere between countercultural travelogue and deeply personal self-portrait, THE PYRAMID captures a moment when California’s New Age movement briefly seemed capable of transforming everyday life itself—offering visions of healing, transcendence, expanded consciousness, and radical inner reinvention amid the cultural exhaustion of post-1960s America.
Newly preserved by AGFA from the only surviving 35mm theatrical print, THE PYRAMID will be preceded by an introduction from Enlighted Artists curator, film writer, and author of TCM Underground: 50 Must-See Classics from the World of Cult and Late-Night Cinema, Quatoyiah Murry, followed by a post-film conversation with Murry and special guests.
Dir. Gary Kent, 1976, 93 mins, USA, English, Unrated (Adult Audiences Only), Digital.
Tickets: $12 (All Screenings Are In Person Only)

ANALOG OUTLAW: Print & Sounds From The Underground media fair creates a third space for indie publishers, dealers of counterculture, vintage ephemera and controversial printed materials to connect with the community, featuring amazing vendors of vintage books, ephemera and other printed rarities, from indie publishers and record labels.
Created and organized in 2024 by Crystal Claire and Los Angeles based publisher Astraleyes of Bibliomancers, the Analog Outlaw book and record fair was created for independent book dealers, collectors, readers and fans of analog media to organize and share our love of printed material.
