About this Event
Did you know that up until 1925, an average of 50% of Hollywood releases were written by women? Or that almost every single convention of cinematography that we use today was established by the late teens? OR that before the Code, there were mainstream films exploring alternative lifestyles, reproductive rights and the links between crime and depravation?
Each month we will screen a feature or a night of shorts. There will be a brief talk giving a bit of background to the production or filmmakers, and a chance to discuss it afterwards.
For anyone curious about film - or just enjoys watching movies in a bar!
September's film will be my all-time favourite movie, Greta Garbo's epic QUEEN CHRISTINA.
Queen Christina of Sweden is a popular monarch who is loyal to her country. However, when she falls in love with a Spanish envoy, she must choose between the throne and the man she loves.
