About this Event
For 30 years, Real Change has been a partner, advocate and platform for Seattle's homeless community. On Saturday, September 21, we're gathering at Washington Hall to celebrate "The Power of We" and honor the thousands of folks who've made 30 years of Real Change possible! Join us for good food, great drinks and even better company.
?️ ?️
Right now, our unhoused neighbors and friends are navigating an unprecedented housing crisis and political attacks on the poor. At Real Change, we're committed to meet our community's emerging needs — with you by our side. Join us to be part of the next era of Real Change!
Featuring:
Emcee: Rosette Royale (Managing Editor, South Seattle Emerald)
Rosette Royale (he/she/they) is a writer and storyteller, whose first gig in journalism was in 1995 at the Provincetown Banner, on the tip of Cape Cod. Rosette moved to Seattle in 2003 and spent more than a decade as a reporter and editor at Real Change. Rosette loves to elevate the voices of people whose stories often go unheard. And when they aren’t reading, Rosette’s cooking up something good in the kitchen.
Keynote Speaker: Jazmyn Clark (Smart Justice Policy Program Director, ACLU-WA)
Poet: Ebo Barton
Ebo Barton is an artist, and educator dedicated to creating healing spaces and driving social change. Proudly embracing their mixed Black and Filipino heritage, Ebo's identity as a Transgender and Non-Binary Queer individual highlights the value of intersectional identities.
As the Director of Housing Services for Lavender Rights Project, Ebo advocates for inclusive housing opportunities for LGBTQ+ communities. They also serve on the Community Advisory Board for Creative Justice Northwest, using art-based interventions to transform the juvenile justice system.
