The Power of Prevention: Saving Lives Through Safety Planning

Come join us at SpringHill Suites Greenville Downtown for an informative event on the importance of overdose prevention! Zero Overdose is a nonprofit organization dedicated to reducing overdose deaths through evidence-based education, systems change, and community collaboration. February 10, 2026 trainings will be available throughout the day for all backgrounds and levels of practice. The conference will begin on the evening of Feburary 10th, 2026 with a conference wide networking session beginning at 6:00pm. On February 11, 2026 the conference will bring together professionals in social work, behavioral health, healthcare, and related fields to engage in a full day of keynote presentations, networking, and education focused on overdose prevention and response.

Overdose Safety Plan-Train the Trainer Program

Info: A comprehensive, half-day training intended to secure the sustainability of Overdose Safety Planning across the organization. Designated individuals in the organization are led through the safety planning training with additional focus on adult learning best practices, points of pedagogy, and different learning styles to equip them with the skills they would need to deliver this training themselves within their organization/setting. Afterwards, those who participate in the train-the-trainer sessions get access to the latest version of the training slides, speaker notes, and a digital toolkit with multimedia resources, handouts, and checklists to enhance training delivery. Zero Overdose also provides annual recertification to the trainers in the organization to ensure fidelity to the model and share any new resources or updates that accompany the training.

Overdose Safety Plan Training

Info: A comprehensive training module designed for participants to master overdose risk screening, safety planning, and management. It focuses on equipping participants with actionable strategies to manage overdose risks and giving them the confidence to engage in discussions on this topic. If necessary, Overdose Safety Plans can be integrated into electronic health records, ensuring continuity of care and safety.

Community Ambassador Training

Info: This training equips community ambassadors with the skills and knowledge to help individuals at risk of overdose through effective overdose safety planning. The session covers core concepts of harm reduction, understanding overdose risks, creating personalized safety plans, and promoting self-care for ambassadors. Special emphasis is placed on how ambassadors engage with individuals at risk, community members such as employers and school personnel, as well as how to approach conversations around overdose prevention and inform people how to access Overdose Safety Planning.

Youth Ambassador Training

Info: The Zero Overdose Youth Ambassador Program empowers middle and high school students to lead peer-driven efforts in overdose and suicide prevention. Through flexible, remote training and community service opportunities, students gain lifesaving skills, organize awareness or fundraising initiatives, and earn 10 hours of community service. This youth-led, peer-to-peer model builds leadership, reduces stigma, and equips young people to make a meaningful impact in their schools and communities.
