Join us for a two-part, beginner-friendly workshop that celebrates the power of native plants and the art of herbal tea blending. Led by Jenée Redecker, this immersive experience combines traditional plant knowledge with hands-on learning, offering participants both practical skills and a deeper connection to the plants growing in our region.
Part One: The Power of Native Plants
In the first half of the workshop, we’ll explore the incredible versatility of native and commonly found plants, including favorites such as dandelion, nettles, yarrow, chamomile, lavender, and wild lettuce. Participants will learn how to properly identify these plants in the wild, which parts of each plant are useful, and how different parts—roots, leaves, flowers, and stems—are traditionally processed and used.
We’ll discuss the many benefits these humble plants offer, from food and medicine to everyday wellness and self-care. This portion of the workshop emphasizes traditional and practical knowledge, helping participants understand how accessible and abundant native plants can be incorporated into daily life at home.
Part Two: Herbal Tea Blending with Native Plants (Back by Popular Demand!)
The second half of the workshop is a hands-on tea blending experience. Participants will learn about the properties, flavor profiles, and traditional uses of native plants and complementary herbs, and how they work together to create balanced herbal teas. We’ll explore blends for relaxation, digestion, immunity, sleep, and general wellness, while encouraging creativity and personal experimentation.
Each participant will create their own custom herbal tea blend to take home, choosing combinations that suit their tastes and wellness goals.
This workshop is designed for beginners and curious learners of all ages. It is a wonderful opportunity for families and individuals to learn together. Whether you’re new to plant knowledge or looking to deepen your connection to the natural world, this workshop offers practical skills, traditional wisdom, and a welcoming space to explore the healing power of plants.
