We’re delighted to welcome Barbara Chapman (CNZM, BCom, CMInstD) as our guest speaker. Barbara is Chair of Genesis and has been a member of the Board since 2018. She is also a director of the Bank of New Zealand Group and is deputy-Chair of The New Zealand Initiative.
Barbara brings a wealth of leadership experience from across New Zealand and Australia, including her seven-year tenure as Chief Executive and Managing Director of ASB Bank. Her career spans a wide range of executive roles in financial services, alongside significant governance and community contributions, including former roles with Oxfam New Zealand, IAG New Zealand, and the New Zealand Equal Opportunities Trust.
Recognised for her impact, Barbara was named New Zealand Herald Business Leader of the Year in 2017 and the inaugural INFINZ Diversity and Inclusion Leader in 2018. She was appointed a Companion of the New Zealand Order of Merit (CNZM) in 2019 for services to business.
In this session, Barbara will share reflections on her career journey, the lessons learned from both successes and setbacks, and her perspectives on what defines outstanding leadership today. This is a unique opportunity to gain practical insights, hear honest reflections, and be inspired to take the next step in your own leadership path.
