An invitation to tune into the body as an innately creative presence, guided by curiosity, sensation, and choice—moving at your own pace.
About this Event

The Poetry of Motion
is a guided movement class for dancers, movers, and artists of all kinds, including writers, creatives navigating periods of block or disconnection, and those who swear they “don’t move.” It offers a practical, embodied way to step out of mental overactivity and into a more receptive, creative state.

Participants are led through simple, structured prompts involving breathing, sensing, and exploratory movement. The practice includes moments of stillness and ongoing invitations to notice internal sensation, rhythm, and impulse. There is no choreography to learn and nothing to perform. Movement arises organically, shaped by curiosity rather than effort.

As attention settles into the body, habitual thought patterns soften. Creative blocks become tangible experiences that can be met through movement rather than pushed through. Many participants find that quieting the mind allows awareness to widen, supporting a deeper sense of authenticity and connection, both inwardly and with the space, people, and world around them.

The practice is informed by the work of a performing artist and teacher of classical and contemporary dance, theatre, and yoga, who has studied, performed, and taught extensively in New York City, Los Angeles, and Florida, as well as internationally in France, India, and Peru. With a foundation that includes a BA in Psychology from MMC in NYC, the approach is shaped by an understanding of perception, attention, and lived experience. Drawing from somatic practice and mindful movement, it meets people where they are, physically and creatively, offering entry points for many bodies and ways of making art.

The class is accessible and invitational, with options to participate seated or standing and no prior movement experience required. The Poetry of Motion is not about training or fixing the body. It is an invitation to listen, to move from within, and to rediscover the body as an intelligent, expressive collaborator in creativity and in life.
