Get ready to laugh until it hurts! As Halifax County Little Theatre proudly kicks off its landmark 70th Anniversary Season, prepare for an opening night like no other with “The Play That Goes Wrong.” This play-within-a-play recently finished its run on Broadway.
Join us beginning Friday, October 3, at 7:30 p.m. on The Prizery stage for a theatrical disaster you won’t want to miss. Imagine this: five amateur actors, a long-suffering stage manager, a missing dog, and one murder mystery spiraling wildly out of control. This critically acclaimed whodunit is a masterclass in comedic chaos, where every prop, every line, and every entrance goes spectacularly—and hilariously—awry. You’ll be on the edge of your seat, wondering, “It can’t possibly get any worse than this…can it?” It absolutely can, promising non-stop laughter until the final curtain call!
Veteran stage actors Mario Sadler and Will Hamilton are guiding this delightful mayhem, stepping into the directorial spotlight for the first time as co-directors. Having graced the HCLT stage recently in “Beautiful: The Carole King Story,” both gentlemen bring a wealth of on-stage experience to the production.
Sadler shares, “It has been fun and challenging choreographing a beautiful disaster. We want to make sure that everything goes wrong in the right way.”
Hamilton adds, “I have seen a lot of wonderful shows in Halifax County, but this show is truly something different than what has come before. I suggest getting to The Prizery early because the show “starts” in the lobby before the actors ever take the stage. And for those who like to snack, please avoid the salted nuts.”
