About the Pipes of Christmas

The concert is hosted by the Learned Kindred of Currie, a non-profit cultural and educational organization dedicated to preserving and promoting Scottish and Highland heritage and the arts. As our primary fundraiser, the Pipes of Christmas enables our continued efforts to support the global Scottish community through initiatives such as:

  • Scholarships & Education - In partnership with leading institutions across Scotland, North America, and beyond, our scholarships support students advancing Celtic music, Gaelic studies, and the arts.
  • Awards & Sponsorships - We sponsor awards that celebrate excellence in Gaelic arts and cultural scholarship. These initiatives recognize outstanding achievement while encouraging the continued study and growth of our traditions.
  • Festivals & Events - We organize and participate in Scottish cultural events and celebrations throughout the year, including Tartan Day on Ellis Island and Highland Games festivals in the US, Canada, and Scotland.
  • Creative Commissions & New Works - Each year we commission new music and cultural works that celebrate our heritage and support both emerging and established artists, ensuring our legacy remains dynamic and relevant.
  • Monuments & Heritage Preservation - An initiative to protect sites of historical importance to Scottish ancestry and Gaelic bardic tradition, including supporting the Scottish Writers Museum in Edinburgh and maintaining Baile nam Bàrd (the bard's home) on South Uist—the ancestral seat of the MacMhuirich bardic family.
  • Community Outreach & Partnerships - In addition to our own programs, we proudly support local, national, and international organizations that share our values of education, community building, and cultural preservation.
