One of Scotland's most enduring music collectives The Pearlfishers have released 9 albums of critically acclaimed music since 1993's Za Za's Garden, with a brand new album scheduled for release in early 2024. Most recently Hamburg's Marina Records has curated a series of beautiful double vinyl reissues for the band: The Young Picnickers (1998), Across the Milky Way (2001), Sky Meadows (2003) and Up With the Larks (2006) received excellent notices (including a 5 star review in Shindig!) and a double page feature on Up With the Larks in The Herald. Songwriter David Scott has been compared to writers of classic art-pop - 'Scotland's Van Dyke Parks' (Word), 'David Scott stumbled on the songwriting secret known only to Paul McCartney, Jimmy Webb and Brian Wilson' (The Sunday Times), '...how the Beatles would sound today' (Audio) - and is also well known as a collaborator for other musicians including Norman Blake (Teenage Fanclub), Ricky Ross (Deacon Blue), Amy Allison, BMX Bandits and Alex Chilton among many others. He is also the presenter of BBC Radio Scotland's long running popular radio / podcast series Classic Scottish Albums, and Head of Arts & Media at the University of the West of Scotland.
Expect an intimate show full of 'masterpieces of evocative lyrics and beautiful melodies' (The Herald), intricate musical and vocal arrangements, outstanding musicianship, great storytelling, and a masterclass in unique songwriting from these legends of Scottish popular music.
