About this Event
Welcome to The Parent Table
Parenting is one of the most important roles we’ll ever hold — and one of the least supported.
The Parent Table is an intentional, in-person space for parents who are ready for honest conversations beyond surface-level advice. This is not a lecture. This is not a seminar. This is not therapy.
This is a guided parent circle centered on truth, reflection, and growth.
No judgment. No parenting performance. No pretending you have it all figured out. Just real conversation in a room built for depth.
This founding circle is intentionally limited to protect the intimacy of the experience.
*Exact location is shared with registered parents to preserve the intimacy and safety of the circle.
Some conversations don’t belong online. They belong in a room. With people who understand the weight of raising humans. If you’ve been carrying a lot quietly… this table was created for you.
This space is for parents who: • Feel the pressure of getting it “right” • Are tired of surface-level parenting advice • Want real tools, not trends • Value honesty over perfection You don’t have to have it all figured out. You just have to be willing to show up honestly.
Who is this circle designed for?
Parents and guardians raising middle school-aged children (roughly ages 10–14) who want deeper connection, clarity, and real conversations during one of the most important developmental stages.
Is this therapy or counseling?
No.
This is a guided parent circle — not therapy.
It’s a structured, honest space for reflection, perspective, and growth.
What makes this different from parenting workshops?
This is not a lecture.
No slides. No performance. No pretending.
This is a real conversation room designed for truth, insight, and connection.
What will we actually talk about?
Topics may include:
Communication shifts in middle school
Emotional distance and identity changes
Discipline vs. connection
Social pressure and behavior changes
Staying emotionally connected as your child grows
Every circle is guided but organic.
Is this only for struggling parents?
Not at all.
This space is for parents who are:
Doing well but want deeper connection
Feeling a shift they can’t quite name
Wanting to parent more intentionally
Growth-focused parents belong here.
How many people will be in the room?
This founding circle is intentionally limited to protect intimacy and depth.
Small room. Real conversation.
Will this be recorded?
No.
What’s shared in the room stays in the room.
Privacy is part of the experience.
Who is facilitating The Parent Table?
Kendi Norman — mentor, author, and community facilitator who has worked with hundreds of Detroit youth and families through mentoring and social-emotional development work.
This circle expands that work directly to parents.
Will there be more Parent Tables in the future?
Yes — but founding circles are different.
Smaller. More intimate.
You are part of the beginning.
If you’ve been feeling the shift in your child but couldn’t quite name it —
this room was created for that moment.
