About this Event
“To Music” is the theme of the Palmetto Mastersingers’ spring concert, to be presented on Friday, May 17, at Virginia Wingard Memorial United Methodist Church. The program is a potpourri of vintage Mastersingers’ favorites, ranging from Shubert classics to Tuskegee Choir spirituals to beach music, and including a set of songs from “Les Misérables.”
In anticipation of Memorial Day, the Mastersingers will sing the famed Wilhousky arrangement of “Battle Hymn of the Republic,” as well as the pensive “Song for the Unsung Hero.”
The program marks the debut of Benjamin Stogner as Artistic Director. Stogner holds music education and vocal performance degrees from Liberty University, and a Doctor of Musical Arts degree from the University of South Carolina. Allison Hilbish is the accompanist.
General admission is $15, and $10 for students/military/veterans. Tickets may be purchased through EventBrite, at or at the door. The concert begins at 7:30 p.m. The venue is located at 1500 Broad River Road, Columbia.
