The Orchestra Project Inc. returns to the magnificent Verbrugghen Hall at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music for its annual Easter Sunday symphony concert, an electrifying afternoon of orchestral brilliance, drama, and virtuosity.
This year’s program brings together three monumental works that span the emotional and sonic extremes of the orchestral repertoire. Experience the sweeping intensity of Wagner, whose music captures both grandeur and deep human longing, alongside the dazzling flair of Strauss’ Burleske, a rarely performed tour de force for piano and orchestra.
Featuring internationally acclaimed pianist Alexander Gavrylyuk, one of the most celebrated virtuosos of his generation, Strauss’ Burleske becomes a thrilling centrepiece of the program. Renowned for his electrifying technique, poetic sensitivity, and commanding stage presence, Gavrylyuk brings extraordinary depth and brilliance to this fiery and playful work.
The program culminates in John Adams’ Harmonielehre, a contemporary masterpiece widely regarded as one of the most powerful orchestral works of the past half-century.
