The O’Neill Brothers with Special Guest, Jim Reyen. The O’Neill Brothers have been active in the local music scene since the 1970’s with John O’Neill fronting several bands and a solo act. With the formation of The Susquehanna Hat Company in the early 1980’s Gary, Kevin and John O’Neill with friends Tom Lacey and Brian Sternberg became a popular band, both locally and regionally, playing venues and festivals around the region. Places such as The Brackney Inn, The Rad Man Saloon and many others would be jumping to the modern “New Grass” sounds of the ‘Hat Company’.
In 2001, with the end of the ‘Hat Company’, the O’Bros had more music to make. With youngest brother Tim filling the mandolin spot, they continue to make music into the sixth decade.
Jim Reyen has played in many popular bands over several decades including, The Rhythm Gypsys, Home Brew, and Straight Up. He was a ‘fan’ of The Susquehanna Hat Company early on and happily fills the Bass spot, when available, since the loss of brother John O’Neill in 2024.
