Join a week-long workshop on physical storytelling & writing for LGBTQIA+ artists!
Are you interested in physical theatre, storytelling, writing and resilience through art? Are you LGBTQIA+? We have 5 places available for a week-long workshop at The Dean Arts Studios with theatre artists and makers Amir Abualrob and Sorcha Fox .
The workshop will be from 10 am - 4.30 pm every day (Monday 15th to Friday 19th April, NO WORKSHOP ON THURSDAY 18th). It will involve physical warm up, trust building, physical methods of story exploration in the mornings and writing and exploration of the writing through performance in the afternoons. The last day and a half will be dedicated to rehearsal of what we have created using The Platform- a 1.5 metre by 1 metre performance space marked on the floor - a method for performance heightens and intensifies the storytelling. We will use techniques from Grotowski and LeCoq among others.
The workshops will culminate in a 20 minute showcase on Saturday, April 20th , at 1 pm, where we will present what we have explored and written together over the 5 days.
