The Mission: Keeping The Old Ship Afloat
Since 2020, The Old Ship has been more than just a building—it’s been a lifeline. What started as a temporary measure has grown into a vibrant community hub, hosting everything from volunteer-led cafes to youth workshops and weddings.
However, after years of battling the elements, our "temporary" home is at a breaking point. To keep the doors open and the music playing, we need to raise £20,000 for urgent structural repairs.
Why Your Support Matters
In 2025 alone, The Old Ship saw over 2,500 visits to our community cafe and supported nearly 450 young people through after-school clubs and cooking classes. We’ve hosted over 300 events and provided a platform for local businesses and 40+ volunteers.
The Reality: Our temporary roof is failing, the electrics need a desperate upgrade, and the building is freezing. Without these repairs, we face the very real threat of closure. This gig isn’t just about a great night of music—it’s about ensuring the future of a space that belongs to all of us.
What We’re Raising Funds For
Every penny from this event goes directly toward the £20,000 goal to:
Replace the leaking roof and install professional insulation.
Modernize the electrics with a three-phase system and new lighting.
Keep us warm with new wall-mounted radiators and refurbished windows.
Improve our kitchen with better ventilation to support our cafe.
If we exceed our goal, additional funds will go toward new furniture and garden improvements to make the space even more welcoming.
The Long-Term Vision
While our dream of a £1 million full rebuild is currently on hold due to the economic climate, we refuse to let the project sink. By securing the building now, we are protecting the The Peninsula Trust's community projects and ensuring that The Old Ship remains a hub for creativity, heritage, and connection for years to come.
