📣Come down to the Center of New Hartford and celebrate our second annual Chalk Walk! This is a family friendly event with live music, kids activities, food, vendors, raffle prizes and of course loads of gorgeous art!
❇️WHO ARE YOU HELPING SUPPORT?
Pleasant Valley Children’s Center is a small, nonprofit preschool located in the heart of New Hartford, CT. We are a parent cooperative school offering play based learning in a quaint community setting. Every Fundraising event is organized by parents in an effort to keep tuition affordable, our building updated, and our curriculum fun and engaging for our preschoolers for years to come!
❇️WHAT IS A CHALK WALK?
A Chalk Walk is a public event in which artists "buy" a sidewalk square. This means the artist is temporarily using that space as a canvas. Then, those artists flex their creative muscles, drawing beautiful works of art on their allotted square during the event. The community is invited to check out what the artists have drawn, and purchase tickets to vote for their favorite squares. The artists with the most votes at the end of the event win a prize!
The registration and ticket sales for this event will go directly to PVCC, a local nonprofit preschool.

❇️ARTIST INFORMATION & RULES
***Early Entry: Saturday, May 30, 2026 artists will be permitted to draw for 3pm-7pm. Registration will start at 3pm at Barden Market: 510 Main Street, New Hartford CT, 06057. This event is NOT RESPONSIBLE for artwork drawn Saturday night. Artist draws at own risk of work being tampered with or damaged by the elements if drawn early.***
❇️DAY OR EVENT:
Sunday, May 31, 2026 Artist check-in will begin at 9am.
Sidewalk squares are allotted on a first come, first serve basis. "Squares" range in side and shape.
Artists may choose to bring their own chalk. If they do not bring their own materials, chalk can be purchased at registration. Each artist will also be given a complimentary bucket of water with basic materials at registration.
Materials used must be washable. No three dimensional elements may be added or used to expand beyond the artist's assigned square.
⏱️DRAWING TIME STARTS at 9am.
The community is encouraged to walk around artists while they work, and can begin voting for their favorite squares starting at 10am. VOTING WILL END at 1:30pm. Winners to be announced at 2pm.
Winning art will be shellacked semipermanently for the town to admire throughout the year.
There is no "theme" however, all artists must follow "community friendly" guildlines. Art must be free from hateful or cruel words/language. Art must not depict violent or sexually graphic images. No political art please. Art not within these guildlines will be disqualified and removed.

⭐️CHILD SQUARES:
There will be a designated Children’s Sidewalk Section. Children who wish to participate in this group must be 12 year of age or younger. In the event a child is interested in drawing outside the designated “Children’s Section“ they will be required to purchase a regular “Artist Square”. Children’s voting will begin at 9am. Voting begins at 10am and closes at 1:30pm. Winners announced at 2pm.
