The City of Philadelphia Public Health Center #9 Neighborhood Advisory Committee Mattie L. Humphrey Clinic will host its fifth annual Natural Health Fair on Saturday August 6h 2022. The event will take place at 131 East Chelten Avenue Philadelphia, Pa. 19144 from12-4pm; setup time is at 9:00 am. Due to city budget cuts the Philadelphia Department of Public Health no longer fund health fairs. Our mission is to address the health issues and concerns of our patients in our service area, Northwest Philadelphia (Chestnut Hill, Mt Airy, Germantown, North Philadelphia, Logan, Nicetown, West Oak Lane and Olney), by providing resources, information, hosting health-conscious seminars and events. The function of our committee is to be a liaison between our patients and its service area and the Executive Board of the Philadelphia Department of Public Health, also to monitor the adequate staffing of the health center while meeting the needs and health concerns of the health centers patients and surrounding communities.
Our annual Natural Health Fair is designed to address the health issues of our patients and its communities, (Heart Disease, Diabetes, COVID-19 education, testing and vaccines, Hypertension, Adult and Childhood Obesity, Stress related illness and HIV to name (but) a few. By hosting the Natural Health Fair, we have been successfully able to demonstrate through tastings, information, useful resources and activities that eating fresh and living well can help manage the symptoms of disease. The Natural Health Fair is educational and provides its participants with informative options and healthier alternatives. Our Natural Fair allows its participants to experience a verity of useful resources, physical activities, motivational tips, information lectures, displays, demonstrations, tastings, wellness and healthy food vendors and an introduction to natural products, which will introduce health consciousness, healthier choices and hopefully lead to health prevention. A lite healthy lunch will be provided for the committee, center staff, vendors and providers.
Our Natural Fair brought hundreds of participants over the years. We are asking our vendors and participate to supply 50 giveaways and or samples for the day of the event, this is a requirement, you must supply your own tables. chairs, displays, demonstrations, tastings or a small information lecture or testing at our Natural Health Fair. registration for this event is free, please register, we hope you will continue to support Health Center #9 Advisory Committee Mattie L. Humphrey Clinic in our efforts to promote and demonstrate healthy eating and wellness to our community and its patients.
