Reinier van Houdt will play a set of music in which the grand piano gradually gets taken apart - literally and sonically. In the pieces he made with sound artist Francisco López the piano first gets divided into parts and modified by metal, wood and rubber; then the mechanical block gets taken out and turned into a 'stringless piano', where the hammers hit into emptiness.
In Reinier van Houdt own 'soundjournals' the piano gets further decontextualised: it gets doppelgängers, it will start drifting through clouds of ghost static and everyday noise, all as an evocation of what it means to be alive.
