The Mystery Lights, formation psych-garage née en Californie autour de Mike Brandon et Luis Alfonso Solano, façonnent depuis plus d’une décennie un rock’n’roll brut, tendu et incandescent. Installés à New York dès 2012, ils complètent leur line-up avec Alex Amini (basse), Zachary Butler (batterie) et Lily Rogers (claviers), et s’imposent rapidement sur la scène DIY locale grâce à des concerts à l’énergie viscérale.
Repérés par Daptone, ils rejoignent le label Wick Records en 2015 et publient trois albums — The Mystery Lights (2016), Too Much Tension! (2019) et Purgatory (2024) — qui affirment leur signature : une urgence garage nourrie de psyché, de punk et de tension nerveuse.
En 2025, le groupe dévoile un nouveau 45 tours sur le label PDOOM de King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard : “Kids of Today” / “Wish You Unwell”, entre proto-metal halluciné et ballade soul. Une nouvelle preuve que The Mystery Lights restent parmi les formations les plus féroces et indomptables du rock actuel.

The Mystery Lights, een psych-garageband uit Californië rond Mike Brandon en Luis Alfonso Solano, maakt al meer dan tien jaar rauwe, gespannen en vurige rock-’n-roll. Sinds 2012 zijn ze gevestigd in New York, waar ze hun line-up compleet maken met Alex Amini (bas), Zachary Butler (drums) en Lily Rogers (keys), en snel naam maken in de lokale DIY-scene dankzij hun energiek optredens.
Ze werden opgemerkt door Daptone, tekenden in 2015 bij het label Wick Records en brachten drie albums uit die hun kenmerkende sound bevestigen: een garage-urgentie gevoed door psychedelica, punk en nerveuze spanning. In 2025 bracht de band een nieuwe single uit op het label PDOOM van King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard: ‘Kids of today’ / ‘Wish You Unwell’, een mix van hallucinerende protometal en soulballads. Het nieuwe bewijs dat The Mystery Lights nog steeds een van de meest woeste en ongetemde bands in de hedendaagse rock zijn.
