Mod Squad’ was formed almost by accident when founder Steve Crabtree was asked to host a ‘jam night’ at Bits, a cocktail bar where he’s had a long-term residency as a solo performer. This was not an open mic jam, it was an invite only jam. Steve invited several well-known and established local musician friends to come hang out and jam together. He mostly wanted to get all his musician friends in one room for a night and play together.
He asked friends Pat Coy and John Paredes to join him as the house band. Word got out about the jam night, and how good the house band is. In between jam nights, Steve, Pat and John began writing down all the songs they were playing and learning for the jam. The set lists they put together is a constantly growing set of their favorite songs from every era and every genre. They christened themselves, ‘Mod Squad’, fitting of the mood and the vibe of the trio. Together, Mod Squad has put together a very unique and super entertaining evening of songs you’ll recognize and love, but rarely hear them covered by anyone else.
