About this Event

MF Art Of Listening Featuring - Musicians creating a musical conversation on the spot. Getting back to the original love of what draws musicians into music. Trusting the music and musicians to guide and discover what it means to improvise much in the same way we communicate verbally. Drummer extraordinaire Marcus Finnie assembles a unique group of very special artists for this show, comprised of elite session artists or musicians on tour in the Nashville vicinity. Featuring Marcus Finnie, Zachariah Witcher, Emmanuel Echem and Kory Caudill.
As a Memphis native and Nashville resident, Marcus Finnie has toured the world with Kirk Whalum, Keb’ Mo’, Taj Mahal, Brett Eldredge, Kurt Elling, Charlie Hunter, Lady Antebellum, Larry Carlton, Donna Summer, India Arie, Kurt Elling, Billy Preston, Earl Klugh, Beegie Adair, Dave Koz and many others. Marcus has also recorded with Grammy and Stellar Award nominated and winning artists’ Jacob Whitesides, Kent Lattimore, Ledisi, Andy Mineo, Kirk Whalum, Keb Mo & Taj Mahal, India Arie, Joss Stone, Butch Walker, Charlie Peacock, Michael McDonald, and several others.
Zachariah Witcher, of Seven Springs, NC, has lived in Nashville since 2009 and been working as a full time touring/recording bassist since 2013. He has toured with many artists ranging genres from metal to country to jazz fusion most recently with Keb’ Mo’. Zachariah recently launched his first business, OffBrand Entertainment, with co-owner Daniel Ian Jones. OffBrand is a live music production company geared towards bringing artists visions for their music to the stage. From finding and rehearsing musicians to arranging and programming the sets and more.
Emmanuel Echem is a trumpeter, composer, and arranger living and working in Nashville, TN. A rare native to the area, Echem has firmly established himself in the music community as a capable lead and section player, as well as an adept soloist with a unique and soulful improvisational style which frequently draws comparisons to trumpet masters such as Clifford Brown, Freddie Hubbard, and Roy Hargrove. Echem's compositional style combines a jazz musician's sensibility of melody and harmony with an intensely groove-oriented approach to rhythm, exploring funk, rock, hip hop, and neo-soul, as well as West African afrobeat, traditional New Orleans music, and Afro-Latin dance rhythms. The sound of his trumpet has been heard at venues and festivals around the world, including the North Sea Jazz Festival, Montreal Jazz Festival, Lollapalooza, Austin City Limits, Radio City Music Hall, Red Rocks Amphitheater, Schermerhorn Symphony Center, and more, in addition to a number of televised performances that have aired nationally and internationally on PBS, NBC, ABC, Late Night with Seth Meyers, the JUNO Awards, The Kelly Clarkson Show, and The Marilyn Denis Show. His list of performance and recording credits span a wide range of genres, and include artists such as Boyz II Men, Patti Labelle, Justin Timberlake, Sister Sledge, Kirk Franklin, Dolly Parton, Eric Church, Lauren Daigle, Brett Eldredge, Joss Stone, Charlie Wilson, Carrie Underwood, Lady A, LeAnn Rimes, Lukas Nelson, Maren Morris, Darius Rucker, Dumpstaphunk, Dan + Shay, Tony Vega, Frankie Negrón, the Neal Morse Band ft. Mike Portnoy, Roy "Futureman" Wooten and the Circle of Harmony Orchestra, the Nashville Symphony, and the Nashville Jazz Orchestra.
Performer, producer and industry executive are just some of the roles that multi-faceted musician Kory Caudill inhabits on a daily basis. From his work with famed country artists, to his own chart-topping solo releases and acclaimed live shows, the Nashville-based keyboardist and entrepreneur is charting a compelling course that’s all his own. During musical studies at Nashville’s Belmont University with Bruce Dudley, Caudill dove head first into every playing opportunity he could find – from club dates to musicals and beyond. Soon after in 2008, rising star Justin Moore tapped him for his touring band. Caudill would spend 13 years anchoring Moore’s live shows, while simultaneously releasing chart-topping albums as a solo artist and honing his writing and production skills. In 2018, as his solo career continued to garner acclaim, Caudill joined forces with fellow polymath Marc Costanzo, the acclaimed writer, developer and producer also known for his work with the pop group Len. Sensing a shared musical vision, Caudill created a writing and production offshoot of Costanzo’s publishing company Inside Music Publishing. As President of Inside Music Nashville, Caudill continues to form strategic alliances around the globe, welcoming renegade newcomers and industry veterans to his roster, and partnering with Costanzo in a company with a vested interest in over 35 million records sold.
