« Le corps métaphysique » est une recherche en danse que je mène depuis dix ans. Elle peut être considérée comme une recherche phénoménologique, au sens où l’expérience sert de base à l’émergence de la connaissance.
Cette matière-au-travail revêt à la fois un caractère artistique mais aussi pédagogique et a mené à la création d’une performance de groupe de 45 min, d’un solo de 20 min et d’un spectacle d’une heure.
La question principale autour de laquelle s'articule ma recherche est de savoir ce que la danse a à voir avec les états modifiés de conscience. Peut-on utiliser la danse comme une "substance" pour glisser dans une autre "réalité" ?
Ma recherche a évolué de manière organique à travers les expériences d'états de conscience non ordinaires que j'ai vécues au fil des ans, à la fois en situation performative et en situation de jam. Ces expériences m'ont conduit à mener cette recherche et à développer une réflexion à partir de laquelle je transmets aussi bien dans un contexte pédagogique qu’artistique.
DESCRIPTION DU STAGE
Pendant les quatre jours de stage, nous examinerons la relation entre la danse et les états modifiés de conscience. Nous explorerons trois états primaires non ordinaires : les états somatiques, les états cinétiques et les états imaginatifs.
En relation avec l'hypothèse de "l'attention comme matériau", nous étudierons la nature de l'attention et la manière dont elle affecte l'interprète et le public.
Dans le cadre d'une performance, nous partagerons notre expérience avec les autres participants de l'atelier afin d'examiner le pouvoir de transformation de la danse sur la conscience humaine.

BIOGRAPHIE DE MATAN
Matan Levkowich est danseur, chorégraphe et animateur du podcast « Material For The Brain ». En 2015, il fonde le « Movement Lab » - un projet pour la formation au mouvement, le travail chorégraphique et l'exploration du discours. Sa pratique est nourrie par son enthousiasme pour la recherche physique et théorique, et s’intéresse au développement d’une relation significative avec le corps-esprit.
Au cours de la dernière décennie, il s'est consacré, tout autour du monde, à l'éducation des personnes à un meilleur mouvement et à la réflexion sur les questions sociales urgentes par le biais de la performance
et, plus récemment, de son podcast « Material for the brain ». Sa passion pour la recherche et la découverte le pousse chaque jour à élargir sa compréhension et à se développer en tant qu'être humain.

THE METAPHYSICAL BODY - contact improvisation’s workshop with Matan Levkowich - 28-31 october 2024 - Paris
The Metaphysical Body is a dance research I have been doing for the last 10 years. It could be understood primarily as phenomenological research - using direct experience as the source from which knowledge emerges.
The body of work has both artistic and pedagogical value and has led to the creation of a 45 minutes group performance, a 20 minutes solo and a one hour presentation.
The main question around which the research revolves is what dance has to do with altered states of consciousness. Can we use dance as a 'substance' to slip into another ‘reality'?
The research has evolved organically through the direct experiences of non ordinary states of consciousness I have experienced over the years in both ‘Performance Setting’ and ‘Jam Setting’. Those experiences led me to conduct this research and develop the discourse in from which I can further share it in both pedagogical and artistic context.
WORKSHOP DESCRIPTION
During the three days of the workshop, we will examine the relation between dance and altered states of consciousness. We will explore three primary non ordinary states: the somatic, kinetic and imaginative states.
Relating to the hypothesis of ‘Attention as Material’, we will study the nature of attention and how it affects the performer and the audience alike.
Within a performance setting, we will share our experience with fellow participants of the workshop to examine the transformative power of dance on human consciousness.

MATAN'S BIO
Matan Levkowich is a dancer, choreographer and host of the podcast 'Material For The Brain'. In 2015 he founded Movement Lab - a vehicle for movement education, choreographic work and discourse exploration. His practice is informed by his enthusiasm for physical and theoretical research, and revolves around the question of how to develop a meaningful relationship with the body-mind.
Over the past decade, he has dedicated himself to educating people around the world about better movement and reflecting on pressing social issues through the medium of performance and, more recently, his podcast 'Material for the brain'. His passion for research and discovery drives him daily to expand his understanding and develop as a human being.
