2026 Maryland State Police Fitness Challenge
Join us for an action-packed day of fitness and fun at the Public Safety Education and Training Center. This in-person event is designed to put your strength, endurance, and agility to the test through a series of exciting and demanding challenges.
The MSP Fitness Challenge is a FREE high-energy, 3-mile obstacle run set across dynamic terrain that is designed by seasoned Maryland State Police instructors. This isn’t just a race, it’s a real test of strength, endurance, and grit, inspired by the demands of one of the nation’s premier police academies.
Whether you’re a competitive athlete or ready to take on your next big challenge, this event is your chance to push past limits, compete alongside driven individuals, and prove what you’re capable of.

Push harder. Go further. Rise to the challenge at the Maryland State Police Fitness Challenge – 2026!
All participants must check in between 8am -8:30 am to be eligible for the Challenge. The event starts at 9:00am. Free onsite parking will be available at Lot D. MSP Cadets will be on site to direct challengers and supporters to the designated parking areas.
Course overview:
Challengers will start with a 3/4 mile run around a designated roadway course, then perform the following exercises:
- 30 Leg raises
- 50 Burpees
- 30 Push-ups
Challengers will then complete two laps around the designated roadway course, equaling 1-½ miles, then perform more exercises:
- Carry two 35-pound kettle bells thirty (30) yards, turn around, and go back.
- 50 Sit- ups
- 30 Jumping Lunges
Challengers will finish the course with another 3/4 of a mile run, completing the challenge!
This challenging course incorporates facets of the Maryland State Police physical training and conditioning. It also simulates the physical demands placed on our law enforcement professionals.

- Bring you photo ID to check-in to the event upon arrival
- Be properly hydrated and ready for a great experience

Specialized Units:
Explore the many career paths within the Maryland State Police by visiting our exhibit area, where Troopers from specialized units will be available to answer your questions. Connect with members of the K-9 Unit, Aviation Command, Forensic Sciences Division, and other divisions to learn more about what they do and how you can be part of it.
Throughout the event, you’ll have opportunities to meet Troopers, take photos, speak with recruiters, and experience the wide range of roles within the department. Bring your camera and get ready for a day filled with competition, excitement, and camaraderie.
Maryland State Police photographers will also be on site capturing moments and speaking with participants. If you prefer not to have your image used for social media or marketing purposes, please let us know during check-in.
Hydration Station:
Water will be available on site. This Challenge takes place outdoors so make sure to hydrate prior to arrival. Experts recommend consuming at least 16-20 ounces of water four hours prior to exercise and an additional 8-12 ounces of water 10-15 minutes prior to exercise.
