About this Event
About the Project
The Martineau Project is an upcoming new lecture series for the intellectually curious in Norwich. Inspired by James Martineau, Norwich-born religious philosopher and leading figure in Unitarianism, this project brings together adults who want to think beyond the boundaries of subjects, explore big ideas, and share in lively discussion. Each week, a visiting speaker will offer a talk on a theme drawn from their area of expertise — from economics to music, literature to philosophy — followed by time for questions and conversation.
What to Expect
No two weeks will be the same. One week you might hear an economist unpack the changing dynamics of modern dating; the next, a cultural historian might explore the surprising links between 19th-century Liszt fans and today’s Swifties; another, a classicist might trace how the ancient world thought about love. The common thread is curiosity: engaging talks that open up new perspectives, delivered in a welcoming atmosphere where discussion is encouraged. Whether you come alone or with friends, you can expect a relaxed evening of ideas, inspiration, and conversation with others who share a love of learning.
Launching Soon
The Martineau Project aims to launch in January 2026, but we’ll need your support to get started. Please sign up below to express your interest in joining this community of curious minds and receive further details of our launch event.
