Introduction to basic color mixing, while learning to loosen up and watch the magic of watercolor unfold.
These classes are about letting go of control and allowing watercolor to move naturally. Instead of planning every detail, students will explore movement, color, and spontaneity, while working with a simple three color palette.
Students will be introduced to a series of watercolor techniques throughout the series:
- Painting wet-on-wet, to create soft organic shapes.
- Letting watercolor blend naturally and watching colors interact.
- Splattering and playful mark-making to create unexpected beauty.
- Coming into a piece with no plan, no outline, no rigid structure to inhibit creativity.
- Working with imperfect shapes, colors, and textures.
- Layering simple floral shapes to naturally build a bouquet
- Embracing the natural bloom of watercolor, instead of trying to control them.
Leanna's series of watercolor classes will explore the same philosophy of expressive, intuitive painting. Each session will focus on a different subject matter, such as: Landscapes, Animals, Portraits, Birds, Cityscapes, Waterscapes, Bugs and Garden Creatures, Fish and Marine Life.
Stress free. No perfection. No judgement. Every painting will be completely unique. Students will learn that watercolor doesn't have to be perfect to be beautiful. Imperfections are often the most interesting part of a painting, and letting go can lead to more expressive and joyful artwork!
