The Luke Daniels Trio is a dynamic group that is redefining the traditional melodeon sound. Fronted on the melodeon by the exceptionally talented Luke Daniels, a celebrated musician and composer, has long been at the forefront of the British folk scene. Formerly the winner of the BBC Young Trad award Luke has toured with Cara Dillon, De Dannan and Jethro Tull. He has performed all over the world from Glastonbury to the Philadelphia Folk Festival.The band is a powerhouse of driving tunes set to a backdrop of deep, resonant basslines and agile, rhythmic riffs, adding a bold, unexpected dance beats to the ensemble. The line-up comprises some unique musicians from the folk world, each bringing their unique style and expertise to the group’s rich, layered sound.
Matt Tighe on fiddle, 2023 finalist BBC Radio Scotland Young Traditional Musician, known for his expressive playing and deep connection to traditional music. Born to an Irish and Trinidadian background, Fiddle player Matt Tighe is quickly making a name for himself in the world of folk and has been described as a, “fiery virtuoso”. He has considerable performance experience, playing at many festivals and clubs within the UK and Ireland.
Luc McNally, 2019 finalist BBC Radio Scotland Young Traditional Musician, on guitar, whose rhythmic precision and melodic sensitivity add depth to the band’s arrangements. Luc McNally is based in Glasgow, but originally from County Durham. He is an outstanding accompanist to traditional Scottish and Irish musicians, having performed with artists such as Dosca, Snuffbox, Suas, Hannah Rarity, Iona Fyfe, RURA and Maeve MacKinnon. Luc is an emerging composer and is one of the 2025 New Voices commissions for Celtic Connections.
