Canberra's Newest Acoustic Event!
An intimate, unplugged performance of story and song featuring the rich, soulful vocals of First Nations (Noongar, Yamatji) and Myanmar artist Wallabindi.
Join Wallabindi and her phenomenal band - Richard Gorter (guitar), John Coates (bass) and Jonathan Jones (percussion) in Smith’s cosy bar upstairs. You are warmly invited to a beautifully intimate, unplugged performance to share story and song for the launch of “The Lounge Club” (TLC) a new concert series, in collaboration with Springtide.
Wallabindi is an award winning First Nations (Noongar, Yamatji) and Myanmar artist hailing from the shores of Boorloo, Western Australia. She is a proud mother, singer-songwriter, visual artist, educator and member of the TEDx Canberra alumni.
A constantly evolving force on the Canberra music and arts scene, her rich soulful vocals have weaved throughout many genres and bands - both in Australia and the UK - for over 20 years. She has performed alongside many iconic artists including Dan Sultan, Joe Camillieri, Frente, Casey Donovan and Coloured Stone.
She released her debut EP ‘Wallabindi Dreaming’, which won the MusicACT Independent Debut of 2023. This original music acknowledged and honoured the Stolen Generations in her family and moved to explore these past experiences and elements of our shared history through her own eyes and heart.
Fresh from a run of successful festival performances in 2025, this will be a special opportunity to catch a full performance here on Ngunnawal Country.
