We are thrilled to announce that the first Los Angeles Silent Film Festival will take place at the American Cinematheque at the Los Feliz 3 on September 12, 13 and 14, as a co-presentation with the American Cinematheque, and the Mount Saint Mary’s Graduate Programs in Film, Television and New Media. Our own Cliff Retallick (https://www.instagram.com/cliffretallick/) will be joined by the esteemed Andrew Simpson (andrewesimpson.com) to provide musical accompaniment, as originally and beautifully intended, in our celebration of the art, aesthetics and history of silent film.
We couldn’t be more proud of our programming, which includes no fewer than four World Restoration Premieres, as well as rarely screened classics like Victor Seastrom’s He Who Gets Slapped (1924) starring Lon Chaney and Norma Shearer, and the 100th anniversary screening of King Vidor’s The Big Parade (1925) starring John Gilbert and Renee Adoree.
