About this Event
The Loom: A Collective Creative Writing Circle
You are invited to a creative writing event hosted by three narrative professionals designed to ideate, dialogue, and craft the human rights project you have dreamed of bringing forward, whether that is fiction, nonfiction, song, or an essay.
We will provide a supportive space to share and workshop your project for change.
Something is shifting in the world. We feel it in our bodies, in our conversations, in the cacophony of the 24-hour news cycle. Narratives are distorted, creating a deep divide within our society and within our individual sense of humanness. Many of us are holding grief, confusion, and a deep unease from the stories being told about who belongs, who matters, and who is worthy of dignity, love, and freedom.
We believe stories have the power to change what is possible. Ancient indigenous wisdom speaks to this through the story of two wolves — one fed by fear, one fed by love — and whichever we feed grows stronger. We are creating a space to come together and write toward a new story, a love story, which is a world where all people are worthy and free.
Bring your work-in-progress, a seed of an idea, or simply your presence.
“This is precisely the time when artists go to work. There is no time for despair, no place for self-pity, no need for silence [...] We speak, we write … that is how civilizations heal.” - Toni Morrison
