TLC The Looking Club
Each month, contemporary painter Claire Jo Harmer, chooses an art element to discuss and reflect on through painting and drawing. You receive a PDF in advance of the session on ‘art focus of the month’. During the session Claire will demonstrate how we can learn from the work of others whilst creating original works of our own. Bring your own art supplies and surfaces.
Over 2026 there are 8 sessions. Each month has a unique focus:
19th April - Composition
17th May - Balance
14th June - Line and shape
19th July - Colour
16th August - Texture
20th Sep - Movement
18th Oct - Atmosphere
15th Nov - Light

This in-person event will take place at A Kick Up The Arts, Brixham. The space is also art studio to Claire Jo Harmer and Mark Bell giving you front row seats into their artistoc practices.
Whether you are a beginner or experienced in visual art making, these sessions are ideal for anyone ready to look at art, to discuss and reflect on how various artists approach the monthly themes and how we can explore them in our own art making.
Arrive at 2pm, help yourself to a cuppa and take a look at the inspiration for the session. After discussion and a demonstration, you begin creating your own artwork responses. I'll be there to support and guide as much as you'd like! Looking forward to seeing you there!
