About this Event
The Long and the Short of IT (Improv Technique)
with Justin Green & Heather Dragulescu
Short form and long form improvisation are often treated as separate disciplines, but the strongest improvisers understand that the skills of one can dramatically elevate the other.
In this two-day intensive, Justin Green and Heather Dragulescu explore the intersection between these approaches, helping performers build a more complete and versatile improvisational toolkit.
Justin will focus on how short form techniques can strengthen long form narrative work. Through bold initiations, dynamic character creation, spatial and object work, and confident stage presence, students will learn how to establish rich foundations that support compelling stories and sustained scenes.
Heather will demonstrate how long form principles can elevate short form gameplay. By incorporating scenic discovery, narrative awareness, transitions, emotional investment, and story structure, students will learn how to create games that feel more connected, meaningful, and engaging for both performers and audiences.
Whether you're a dedicated short form player looking to deepen your scenes or a long form performer seeking greater confidence and immediacy, this workshop will challenge you to think beyond labels and discover how the best improvisers draw from both traditions.
As an added benefit, participation in this intensive also serves as audition preparation for the CSz Las Vegas Short Form and Long Form performance ensembles.
