About this Event

Step into the turbulent world of the Tudor court! In our second session, The Life and Times of Henry VIII (1491–1547), we uncover the reign of one of England’s most enigmatic and transformative monarchs. From his six marriages and dramatic break with the Catholic Church to his patronage of the arts and ruthless consolidation of power, Henry VIII’s legacy reverberates across centuries.

Guided by Alex, a distinguished scholar and Fellow of multiple prestigious institutions including Christ’s College Cambridge, the McDonald Institute of Archaeological Research, and the Institute for Oriental and Classical Studies at HSE University Moscow, this session will delve into critical historical questions: Was Henry VIII a visionary reformer or a tyrannical despot? How did his personal and political decisions redefine the structure of English society and the monarchy?

Through vivid narratives and incisive analysis, we invite you to explore the life of a king who reshaped England’s political and cultural landscape. Don’t miss this opportunity to engage with history as a dynamic interplay of ambition, faith, and transformation. Sign up now to secure your place!
