About this Event
Delft’s past and future are connected to the combination of art and science.
In this spirit, Emergence offers The Lens: ArtScience perspectives, a new speaker series combining artists and scientists to examine the creative intersections of mind and matter.
Our inaugural event will focus on glass geometry.
The Lineup:
The Artist: Jeanine Verloop (Rotterdam) probes the amorphous, disordered solid state of glass.
The Scientist: ir. Dr. Telesilla Bristogianni (BK GlassLab) provides the structural engineering lens.
The Lab: Smaranda Drăghici reveals the Dream Team’s latest R&D into glass applications.
Borrel to follow.
The Lens is a collaboration by Emergence, Crossing Parallels, and the TU Delft Library.
Join us to connect, learn, and interact with the arts community of TU Delft. This series seeks a proliferation of campus cooperation for ArtScience - a step toward deeper interdisciplinary inspiration, collaboration, and creative exploration.
Jeanine Verloop is a Dutch visual artist creating multimedia work and kinetic sculptures. Her practice invites audiences into alternative realities, where technology evolves not through control and precision, but through vulnerability, malfunction, and destruction. Driven by a fascination with how technology can shape, expand, and limit our imagination, Verloop's work has evolved from her early studies in illustration to include abstract printing devices, media archaeology, scientific glassblowing, destructive machine performances, experimental sound, interactive installations, and experimental film. Currently, she is investigating the paradox of glass as an amorphous, disordered solid.
Dr. ir. Telesilla Bristogianni specializes in cast glass structures, glass recycling, and glass strength and defect characterization. She is currently working as an assistant professor at the Faculty of Architecture and the Built Environment.
