Levin Mundinger - Fading Threads
Fading Threads reflects the fragile connection between two worlds - a nomadic culture slowly disappearing, and the threads through which artisan designers help carry it forward.
Join us in celebrating a milestone in the history of photography at the Leica Gallery Sydney.
Levin Mundinger is a Melbourne based cinematographer and photographer. Originally from Germany, his passion for visual storytelling began early and has evolved into a practice focused primarily on filmmaking, with photography remaining an integral part of his creative process.
He works across commercial and documentary projects, often centred on people and natural, unscripted moments. Driven by strong, creative visuals, Levin brings his photographic eye into his filmmaking approach, blending cinematic storytelling with an image-led, observational style.
"Fading Threads offers a brief glimpse into the lives of nomads at 5200 metres in the Himalayan mountain ranges. Moments from their everyday lives, that is both challenging and inspiring. The children are often sent to boarding school or join the army in the hope of new opportunities, gradually reshaping the nomadic way of life.

Entry to this event is restricted to persons aged 18 years and above only. In accordance with Australian venue, police and liquor licensing requirements, the only acceptable forms of identification are:
- A current photo driver's license.
- Current Passport.
- An accepted Proof of Age card.
Leica Camera Australia Pty Ltd reserves the right to refuse entry or expel any attendees from this event at any time, at its sole discretion without warning or justification.

When you enter a Leica Camera Australia Pty Ltd (“Leica”) event, presentation or workshop, you enter an area where photography, audio and video recording may occur.
By entering the event premises, you consent to interview(s), photography, audio recording, video recording and its/their release, publication, exhibition, or reproduction to be used for news, web casts, promotional purposes, telecasts, advertising, inclusion on websites, social media, or any other purpose by Leica and its affiliates and representatives. By entering the event premises, you waive all rights you may have to any claims for payment or royalties in connection with any use, exhibition, streaming, web casting, televising, or other publication of these materials, regardless of the purpose or sponsoring of such use, exhibiting, broadcasting, web casting, or other publication irrespective of whether a fee for admission or sponsorship is charged. You also waive any right to inspect or approve any photo, video, or audio recording taken by Leica or the person or entity designated to do so by Leica.
By booking your ticket, you acknowledge that you have been fully informed of your consent, waiver of liability, and release before entering the event. Do not attend this event if you do not wish to be subject to the above.
