Celebrate International Jazz Day with The Latination, as Emmanuel Simon and a stellar ensemble of India’s top jazz talents ignite the stage with vibrant Latin, Afro-Cuban, and contemporary jazz in an unforgettable night of rhythm and improvisation.
Led by Emmanuel Simon, The Latination stands out as one of India’s rare collectives dedicated to Latin-jazz and Afro-Cuban jazz. Delving into one of jazz’s most influential currents, the ensemble fuses the exuberant rhythms of salsa and rumba with the improvisational spirit and harmonic sophistication of contemporary jazz. The result is a vibrant, dance-infused sound, deeply anchored in Afro-Latin traditions while embracing melodic invention.
For International Jazz Day, The Latination brings together a stellar lineup of musicians, each with a unique voice on the contemporary scene. Emmanuel Simon, a Paris-trained multi-instrumentalist and percussionist, draws on a broad palette of world music influences and a deep grounding in both Western and Indian traditions. Pianist Anurag Naidu, classically trained and a jazz scholar from Paris’s Jean Wiener Conservatory, has performed with some of India’s greatest musical talents and brings expressive nuance and flair to the keys. Drummer Shivang Kapadia, known for his versatility across genres and energetic live performances, anchors the rhythm section with precision and creative drive. Bassist and composer Yohaan Pissurlenker, whose collaborations span acclaimed independent bands and film projects, infuses the ensemble with inventive lines and a dynamic groove. Goan saxophonist Jarryd Rodrigues, mentored by jazz legend Braz Gonsalves, adds a lyrical, melodic voice shaped by a family legacy steeped in jazz history.
Watch them as, The Latination promise an evening where rhythmic vitality, collaboration, and live improvisation bring Latin-jazz and Afro-Cuban traditions brilliantly to life, celebrating the enduring global spirit of jazz.
