About this Event
Ever wanted to have a wonderful weekend in some of the most beautiful places in England? Well come and join me and my Jonions on this trip full of marvels.
This is a trip that will mix hikes, nature and history, coasts and some stunning mountain views of one of the most mesmerising places on Earth and all of this, with some reasonable effort. There are enough groups to do the hardcore hikes that make you unable to walk for a week, this won't be one of those. Sure there will be a couple of inclines but those who know me are very well aware that,... I always choose the easier and prettier routes so if you want to visit those places and take in the landscapes, take your photographs and have one of the funniest weekends of your life, hit the book button!
Both hikes will be about 10 to 12 miles without any extreme climb or rambling, and should be considered average,
Day 1:The Silverdale Coast, Morecambe Bay and visit of Lancaster old town.
As we arrive, we will kick off with a hike in Arnside and Silverdale Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. I have to admit, I had no idea that this place existed, and seriously, this is probably the greatest discovery of the year in my long list of new hikes. The place is stunning, at low tide, the sea is located some 3 miles away from the coast line and as we climb to the top of the plateau, we will distinguish the forest-covered clifftops and sandy beaches, we will sweat a bit, these are low range mountains so we will have to earn the trip and the beauty that awaits on the other side of the woods before we arrive at the beach and have a lovely lunch.
We will then carry on to the second part of the hike to the most famous views of the region; Jenny Brown's Point. The place will delight you with wonders, secluded beaches and pretty cottages and some rare wildlife such as the thousands of waders that ,migrate to the coast but also mammals such as otters that inhabit the region, before we head back to Lancaster for a shower and the visit of this gem of a town and a diner/drink.
LANCASTER: What to say about this sublime town? Well, The House of Lancaster was a branch of the English royal family. Its long history is marked by Lancaster Castle, Lancaster Priory Church, Lancaster Cathedral and the Ashton Memorial.
As you can see, besides its rich history, the architecture, by belonging to some royals must be of a taste that you will not see in many places, we will be stepping in time and you will be taking photos in every corner.
DAY 2: The Lake District
After a night in the historical town of Lancaster, we will drop our luggage and head to the station for a short journey to the jewel on the crown. THE LAKE DISTRICT!
This will be a trip to remember; hopefully for the right reasons. :)
We will begin the trip with a short climb through the woods to reach the famous Orrest Point, On a clear day, the ratio of views to effort put in probably cannot be beaten, you will have an entire view of the mountain ranges all the way to Scafell Pike. We will then carry on for a couple of hours before we head to Ambleside Rydal and Grasmere in the middle of the mountains where we will sneak into the stunning Rydal cave for some pictures and stare at the fine architecture of Ambleside.
We will grab a quick diner and will head back to London our minds full of memories of laughter and postcard-type of places.
