About this Event
About the Music
The Johnbern Thomas Quartet, featuring special guest vocalist Michelle Mailhot, offers a deeply immersive musical experience rooted in spirit, tradition, and artistic exploration.
Drawing from Johnbern Thomas’s recorded works, including his most recent release (April 8, 2026), the repertoire unfolds as a journey—where Haitian ancestral rhythms meet the harmonic sophistication and improvisational depth of modern jazz. At the heart of this expression is Kreyòl Jazz, a living musical language that carries memory, identity, and transcendence.
Each composition is approached not only as music, but as storytelling—channeling the pulse of the Caribbean, the resilience of a people, and the boundless freedom of jazz.
The performance also embraces selections from Michelle Mailhot’s repertoire, along with original works from members of the ensemble, creating a collective dialogue where every voice contributes to a unified spiritual narrative.
This is music that breathes, that listens, and that elevates.
