About PizzaExpress (Northampton)
PizzaExpress in Northampton is the latest venue to welcome Flamingo Jazz Nights.
PizzaExpress (PizzaExpress Live) is synonymous with live jazz in London, and I’m delighted that the newly refurbished Northampton restaurant now hosts Flamingo Jazz Nights!
Similar to The Lamplighter, the jazz nights take place upstairs in a private space that can comfortably accommodate a quintet.
Pizza and jazz - what's not to like!
Accessibility: The jazz nights at this venue take place upstairs and are accessible by stairs only, owing to the age and structure of the building. Step-free access is not available. I recognise that not all venues are fully accessible. For this reason, the main jazz nights are held at The Sun Inn, where accessible facilities are available and assistance can be provided to support access to the venue. If you would like to discuss access requirements, seating, or need assistance in choosing a suitable event, please get in touch. I will always do my best to make reasonable adjustments so that everyone can enjoy live jazz.
About The Joe Masterson Trio
Joe Masterson, Simon Smith, and Miles Levin are a standout trio, and have previously collaborated with renowned jazz musicians such as Simon Spillett, Chris Bowden, Suzi Woods, and Steve Ajao. Influenced by the likes of Monty Alexander, Oscar Peterson, and Eddie Higgins, the trio is known for their groove-driven shows across a broad jazz repertoire.
Joe Masterson - Keys
Tipped as an emerging jazz star on the UK jazz scene, Joe Masterson is a Birmingham-based pianist and a 2020 graduate of Leeds Conservatoire. He has quickly built a reputation across the Midlands, performing at sold-out shows and appearing at major events such as the Cheltenham Jazz Festival and Birmingham Jazz Festival.
Simon Smith - Double Bass
Simon Smith is considered one of the UK’s most in-demand double bassists. His career has taken him across the UK, Europe, and the United States, including five years based in Los Angeles. His recording work features artists such as Stevie Nicks, Sarah McLachlan, Wilson Phillips, Glen Ballard, and Dave Stewart. As a touring musician, he has performed with a diverse range of artists including Idina Menzel, Linda Perry, Carl Barât, and Carina Round, appearing at prestigious venues and festivals such as the Lincoln Center, the Ambassadors Theatre, Glastonbury Festival, South by Southwest, and La Bâtie Festival.
Miles Levin - Drums
Miles Levin is recognised as one of the UK’s leading jazz percussionists, admired nationwide for his skill and musicality. He has performed extensively both in the UK and internationally with many prominent artists. A graduate of the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, Miles also carries a strong musical legacy as the son of Tony Levin, who was closely associated with Tubby Hayes. I have personally watched Miles play live, and it is a delight!
