The First & Only Film Festival Focused on Honouring Un-Valued Young Creatives
About this Event

The ITAV Film Festival is a celebration of the age-old expression, "It Takes a Village to Raise a Child".

We are the first film festival focussed on celebrating and honouring young creatives and the village of family, advocates, caregivers and innovators who have supported their ideas, growth and success.

This year, the festival is centred around 4 short films created by the young people from Bridge The Gap Studios creative arts programmes, MyScript and BTGFF. The films explore the themes of family trauma, the cost of living crisis and social mobility, and look to bring audiences to experience the journey of hope, healing and resolution in dealing with these themes.

THE FILMS

7 Doors

Kaz, a young man, trying to come to terms with his parents’ separation, finds himself pursued by a terrifying manifestation of his own anxiety. Trapped within his subconscious mind, he must navigate a treacherous labyrinth of seven doors, each representing a unique challenge. Can he connect with his family and gain control of his life?

This film was funded by Metropolitan Thames Valley Housing.

Kolaja

Follows the story of Joseph, a brooding, teenage loner who often feels like an "alien" in his own family. But Joseph's world takes an unexpected turn when he encounters Rehe,a young humanoid alien who crashes into his backyard desperate to avoid her captorsand return home. The film focuses on the themes of alienation and the importance of family.

The Cost of Loving

Tatiana is a hopeless romantic, hell bent on helping her parentsstruggling restaurant in any waypossible. Jevon also works in his family’s restaurant, and is convinced love is nothing withoutmoney. When their paths cross-we see how culture, and family views of love; effect the wayspeople try to find it. “Cost of Loving” tackles the question: when it comes to love and money, is love enough?

This film was funded by Metropolitan Thames Valley Housing.

Him & I

A week after their most difficult conversation – can a mother and son rebuild a relationship that faces its biggest challenge yet?

Him and I takes you on a journey to discover what “family” truly means and challenges us to explore the feeling that is crucial in any human life - belonging.
